Why Now Is Time To Vote For Ed Maulbeck

Vote for ED!

Dear Voters and Friends:

My name is Maria Maulbeck, and I am writing to share my thoughts with you.  Whenever I accompany my husband, Ed, as he campaigns for the Republican Congressional nomination, I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to meet and talk with so many 2nd District voters.  I genuinely appreciate the time and energy that you, the voters, have devoted to asking Ed the hard questions.  It is also refreshing that so many people share Ed’s goals and aspirations, not only for our local community, but also for our great Nation — less government, not just for the people but by the people.

At every event I attend, conversations have inspired me to know that Ed is indeed on the right path to holding this country to our Founding Fathers’ creed, the Constitution.  It encourages me to see so many like-minded patriots.  We have many wrongs to correct in both political parties and it is only through the determined engagement of citizens like you and me that we can return this country to the vision of our Forefathers.

As the primary election date draws near, my mind keeps going to you, the voters.  How will you decide who is the best candidate to represent you in the 2nd District?  There are a few things I want to be sure you know about Ed.

Ed is a conservative patriot who truly loves the United States.  His candidacy has created great excitement here in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District.  His enthusiastic campaign for what is right and for the restoration of fiscal solvency in Washington has attracted many dedicated volunteers and strong support to his campaign team.

Ed retired from the Navy 18 months ago, having served on active duty for over 20 years as a SEAL.  He is a born leader with an extremely high level of personal integrity.  He is a doer.  Am I biased?  Yes, I am partial.  I am profoundly proud of Ed.  I know he would make an ideal Congressman who would not compromise his values and who would listen to and interact with his constituents.  Ed does what he says he is going to do.  Trust me on this: I have observed his tenacity for twenty-four years.

Ed is not a professional politician, but a citizen who feels called to serve out of a sense of duty to protect our families and our country.  I can assure you that Ed is an exceptional man.  I am glad he is stepping up to serve.  Please join me in voting for Ed C. Maulbeck on Tuesday, June 8th.

With warmest regards, Maria

Vote Maulbeck Over Clunker Candidate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC_fBxG5eEU

Cash for Clunkers was an unfair flop, which cost the taxpayers over $3 billion dollars. Yet, among our local candidates for Congress there is a Cash for Clunkers beneficiary (Scott Rigell) who continues to refer to himself as a “Constitutional Conservative”?

Ed Maulbeck first publicly broached this important point early last week at a Republican Professionals Network event. Since then, a couple of the other candidates are now following Ed’s lead. At the same time, the Rigell Campaign attempts to shamelessly spin what they said about the Cash for Clunkers program before -versus- what they are attempting to say today. As such, please refer to seemingly contradictory quotes contained within these three sources:

Clunker candidates for Congress: http://online.worldmag.com/2010/04/05/clunker-candidates-for-congress/

Rigell “perfectly fine” with Obama Donation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnvHMSSYvGQ

Regarding the Cash for Clunkers program, Scott Rigell stated, “I had no ethical problem whatsoever…”

We respectfully submit that it is simply morally unacceptable to take personal gain at the expense – literally – of others (i.e., other car dealerships who could not or righteously would not partake in the Cash for Clunkers program, as well as other small businesses who were forced to lay off workers or close up shop thanks – in part – to their hard-earned money being effectively stolen from them and funneled to Cash for Clunkers).

Please join our “Grassroots Operation Plan (GOP)” at www.edmaulbeck.com and help send a true Patriot, an actual Conservative, a real Republican to Congress!

Ed Maulbeck: The man who listened, the man who cared

I gathered signatures on the petitions for candidates in the 2nd District for the June 8 Republican Primary— and I need to tell why this matters:

-          Three of the candidates took this requirement as a race to see who could win and get their name on the ballot first.
-          These three candidates/campaigns camped out at the 2nd District Republican chairman’s office as if they were trying to buy concert tickets.
-          Scott Rigell wanted to report that he got the most signatures out of all the candidates, however, he did not because before he broke that story I let everyone know that he did not get even one of his own signatures for the ballot.
-          I know this because I reviewed every sheet of every candidates’ petitions.
-          My paperwork was the most thorough and completely filled out.
-          I added the counts of all of our petitions in order to quantify how many signatures each candidate got themselves:  Me = over 900, Loyola = 320, Sandlin = 280, Taylor = 200, Rigell = 0, Mizusawa = 0
-          Wives that got signatures for their husband’s petitions: Maria = 200, Gretchen Loyola = 0, Sandlin (divorced), Taylor (single), Teri Rigell = 40, Yvonne Mizusawa = 0

The point is  that my wife Maria and I took it seriously. Everyone of these signatures represents a 5-10 minute commitment and sometimes a 20-minute conversation with potential constituents about what they wanted to talk about.  I answered all their questions, whether we agreed or not. This was a perfect opportunity for the candidates to put their money where there mouth is and prove that they were going to listen to the people. A couple of candidates could not even be bothered, they missed a great opportunity.

The biggest issue with voters right now is that they are not being heard:  I can prove that I listened more to the voters than all the other candidates combined if you use the petitions as a gauge. I gathered as many signatures as humanly possible in the time frame allotted. My focus is still talking and listening to potential voters, to be there for them, and to always not be too busy to listen.

How may I listen to you? Feel free to share your comments and engage with me here. Ed
