Vote Maulbeck Over Clunker Candidate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC_fBxG5eEU
Cash for Clunkers was an unfair flop, which cost the taxpayers over $3 billion dollars. Yet, among our local candidates for Congress there is a Cash for Clunkers beneficiary (Scott Rigell) who continues to refer to himself as a “Constitutional Conservative”?
Ed Maulbeck first publicly broached this important point early last week at a Republican Professionals Network event. Since then, a couple of the other candidates are now following Ed’s lead. At the same time, the Rigell Campaign attempts to shamelessly spin what they said about the Cash for Clunkers program before -versus- what they are attempting to say today. As such, please refer to seemingly contradictory quotes contained within these three sources:
Clunker candidates for Congress: http://online.worldmag.com/2010/04/05/clunker-candidates-for-congress/
2nd District GOP Candidates Clash Over Clunkers: http://www.wvec.com/video/featured-videos/Candidates-clash-over-clunkers-92454554.html
Rigell “perfectly fine” with Obama Donation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnvHMSSYvGQ
Regarding the Cash for Clunkers program, Scott Rigell stated, “I had no ethical problem whatsoever…”
We respectfully submit that it is simply morally unacceptable to take personal gain at the expense – literally – of others (i.e., other car dealerships who could not or righteously would not partake in the Cash for Clunkers program, as well as other small businesses who were forced to lay off workers or close up shop thanks – in part – to their hard-earned money being effectively stolen from them and funneled to Cash for Clunkers).
Please join our “Grassroots Operation Plan (GOP)” at www.edmaulbeck.com and help send a true Patriot, an actual Conservative, a real Republican to Congress!
I know that I prefer someone that does not like whine like a little kid at forums and meetings about all the support that you aren’t getting.

Conservative — Your obvious (and transparently purposeful) mischaracterization of Ed’s courage to speak out against a tone-deaf and oft corrupt political establishment which has drawn the ire of millions of American patriots across this great nation, all while hiding behind a clever internet moniker (as to hide your identity and possibly your affiliation with any other VA-02 candidate perhaps??) clearly demonstrates your inability of objective thought and critical analysis. Your comment is patently absurd.

Ed, You have a valid point. If your opponent was against the program, he shouldn’t have participated in it. It’s a simple matter of following your principles.

So-called “Conservative”: How is it whining when someone does not merely go along with the broken status quo, which it looks like is manufacturing RINOs like Rigell. I have heard Ed “whining” as you say. What I hear him saying is our fine local GOP system is corrupted by good ole boy chronies (let’s not leave out Thelma) who value the dollar over all else and endorsed “their guy” almost a year ago. Really Sir, “whining”? Are there not other candidates? Do the people of the 2nd District of VA not have a say in this choice? Is all it takes to be endorsed in this town is that you either have the coin or went to the same school with currently elected officials? I am new to politics, but I have seen the same blind silence bring businesses down, and it looks to me like Ed cares about more than just getting voted into office.
